Leadership for Community Organising is training for community leaders - including you!

Community leadership is a skill that can be taught. From gaining followers in real life, to running effective community campaigns, community organising is a skill that can help people strategize and work together for social change.

Led by Denisse Sandoval, a community organiser from New York, this training will help build the skills of existing and emerging community leaders, to mobilise community power and make change.

If you want to learn more about community leadership and how to create social change along with others, this training is for you.

No prior experience is necessary - if you are interested in getting involved, you are welcome to join us.

We are delivering the training in partnership with Multicultural Arts Victoria, with two workshops held during July.

Beginner Workshop
Date/Time: Saturday 15 July, 10am - 4pm

Learning objectives include

Understanding what community organising is
Practicing networking meetings or One on Ones
Learning about different types of community relationships
Understanding power in societies
Writing your own personal narrative

Intermediate Workshop
Date/Time: Saturday 29 July, 10am - 4pm

Learning objectives include

Learning how to motivate community members
Effective negotiation for groups
Learning how to run an effective meeting
Interactive role play scenario to test new skills

Both workshops will be held at Coburg Uniting Church, which has a large car park and is conveniently located next to Coburg Train Station.

The venue is wheel chair accessible.

Scholarships
There is a limited number of free tickets available for people with an income under $80,000, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) people who make an income under $80,000, and First Nations people.
