Event description

What is this workshop about?

When people feel safe, they’re more able to connect deeply and authentically, to work collaboratively, to think creatively and positively about the future, and to be curious about other ideas and perspectives. Solutions can be more strategic, more innovative, more connected. Feeling safe and supported at work can also be a huge boost to employee wellbeing, engagement, and retention.

However, as the pace of work speeds up, and the demands increase, feeling safe is replaced by feeling overwhelmed - for us as leaders as well as for our teams. This leads to behaviour in the workplace that is less effective and actually generates more stress.

This workshop offers an opportunity to learn more about our body’s threat detection safety seeking system - the autonomic nervous system. We’ll explore the science behind it, how it functions and influences behaviour at work. We’ll learn new ways to create conditions that help you and those around you thrive at work.

This is an experiential, restorative workshop designed to help you integrate what you learn into how you operate. You’ll be practicing and embedding new ideas as we go, because you can learn way more by trying and exploring than you can by attempting to memorise dozens of powerpoint slides.

Who is this for

This workshop is designed for people leaders at any level, but would also be suitable for those in informal leadership roles, aspiring leaders, or just people who are interested in learning more about the nervous system at work.

Your facilitator: Becky Collett from Rehumanise

I'm Tangata Tiriti, based in Ōtautahi, with roots stretching back through Aotearoa and the USA, back to England, Ireland, Scotland, and Russia.

I've spent my entire life fascinated by humans and how they human, in and out of work. I believe that so many of the challenges we face today cannot be met without our systems and cultures moving towards a more equitable, collective, relational, and humble way of seeing the world.

I'm committed to exploring how I can support other people to learn and unlearn towards deeper connections, more spaciousness, wild curiosity, and the ability to sit with discomfort.

If you're after my professional qualifications, here's a taster:
 - over a decade of leadership roles in the public sector and small business
 - Masters of Science in Applied Industrial and Organisational Psychology
 - Graduate of the Pākehā Project
 - Certificate in the Foundations of NeuroLeadership and Brain-Based Conversation Skills, NeuroLeadership Institute
