Lead with Love - A Community Concert with Melanie DeMore and ComMUSICation

Join internationally acclaimed artist Melanie DeMore and ComMUSICation youth for Lead with Love, an evening rooted in song, conversation, and community.

Three-time Grammy-nominated singer, composer, conductor, and vocal activist Melanie DeMore has spent decades bringing communities together through participatory song. Her music celebrates culture, honors struggle, and lifts up storytelling as a powerful tool for connection. She centers the power of voices raised together for connection and change.

From April 20 to 23, Melanie will be in residency with all RISE, SHINE, and SOAR youth. Over those days, they will explore music as activism, learning songs that uplift, challenge, and ground us in love. The residency culminates in this one-night community event.

The evening begins with an optional community meal at 5:30 PM. At 6:15 PM, the presentation begins with a Q&A where youth interview Melanie, followed directly by the concert.

During the concert, the audience will be invited to sing as well, learning directly from youth and joining their voices with the room. Young people will be sharing work shaped through the residency and engaging in questions about what it means to lead with love in this moment.
