The Cox Creek Restoration Project
Event description
Adelaide Hills Council have been awarded a $1.97 million Urban Rivers and Catchment Program Grant for the Cox Creek Bridgewater Restoration Project, to protect and improve the ecological values along 6km of Cox Creek from Mount George Conservation Park to Engelbrook Reserve.
Weed management will target Willow and Ash removal along this section of watercourse as well as other weeds such as Gorse, Broom, Blackberry and Watsonia. These weeds will be replaced with native riparian plants including Blackwood, Wirilda wattle, Gahnia, Carex and Juncus species. Bank stabilisation works will address erosion across 5 locations.
The project is funded by the Australian Government’s Natural Heritage Trust, with the support of Adelaide Hills Council and stakeholders including Bridgewater Friends of Cox Creek, Trees for Life, Arbury Park Outdoor School, National Parks and Wildlife Service SA, Friends of Mount George, National Trust South Australia and National Trust volunteers, Aldgate Valley Landcare Group and a number of private landholders.
Adelaide Hills Council would love to share the progress of the Project so far with you!
