Event description

We're bringing our popular print workshop back — this time to our own Chatswood studio! Led by award-winning photographer Ian van der Wolde, this in-depth session is designed to demystify the process of colour management and give photographers the tools to ensure their images look exactly as they envisioned, from screen to print.

You’ll gain practical knowledge on managing colour across your entire workflow — from camera settings to monitor calibration, soft proofing, and final output. Whether you’re prepping work for a client or printing for exhibition, this workshop will help you get it right every time.

What’s New:

As part of your ticket, you’ll get to print one of your favourite images using Ilford’s exceptional Galerie paper stocks, renowned for their rich tonality and fine art finish. Thanks to Ilford (our primary sponsor) and Calibrite, your work will be printed on a Canon Pixma Pro-4100 — a professional-grade 44” wide-format printer — and viewed on BenQ colour-accurate monitors (our secondary sponsor). While the workshop finishes at 3pm, print times may vary — if you can’t wait, you’re welcome to return during the week to collect your final masterpiece.

Why Print Still Matters:

There’s nothing like holding a finished print — its weight, texture, and presence transform a photo into an artwork. Print elevates your image, letting you express subtle nuance through paper choices, ink rendering, and output decisions that go far beyond the digital experience.

What You’ll Learn:

– Getting colour right in-camera

– Calibrating & profiling your monitor with Calibrite tools

– Colour spaces, conversions & rendering intents

– ICC profiling & how to soft proof effectively

– Hands-on printing using Ilford Galerie papers & Canon wide-format printers

– Real-world techniques for creating consistent results

Location: Georges Cameras Studio – Unit 27, 1–7 Short St, Chatswood NSW 2067=
Note: This event is no longer held at Fat Poodle Studios — our new space offers great access, air conditioning, and is fully equipped for professional learning and printing.

Spaces are limited — book now and bring your best image to life in print!

Where to park?
There’s plenty of street parking around the studio, and if that’s full, you’ll usually find space at Bunnings or Woolworths just across the road (also a good excuse to grab a snack or last-minute plant).

Important note: Google Maps likes to play games—it often drops people at the back of the complex. We are Unit 27, but don’t let that fool you: we’re actually the second unit in the main front section of the complex, not hiding out in the far corners.

Please don’t park in the warehouse bays inside the complex (we know they look tempting), as they’re reserved for loading and you might end up making friends with a forklift. Parking is at your own discretion—we can’t be held responsible for any parking fines, tow trucks, or passive-aggressive notes left on windscreens.

If you have any questions or need help selecting which image to print, feel free to reach out. We can’t wait to help you get the most out of your photography
