Join ASC Training & Development for this immersive, one-day workshop designed for teachers, trainers, assessors and other persons who coordinate learning support for learners with disability. The course builds on the success of the Skills SA-funded TAESS00025 Learning Support Skill Set delivered earlier this year.
“Real voices. Real insights. Real impact in learner support.”
"The insights provided by the guest speakers with lived experience of learning difficulties and disabilities was invaluable!"
Faciliated by Andy Glowacki, Success and Wellbeing Services (SWS), this interactive workshop connects educators and learners with disability to share their stories in small groups – offering real insights, practical strategies, and lasting impact in learner support. This aspect of the Learning Support Skill Set proved extremely beneficial (and popular) with our course participants, and the guest learners themselves. As one shared after the workshop, "No-one in my life has shown such genuine interest and desire to understand how to provide a learning framework that works for me.”
The course will give participants the opportunity to:
Explore aspects of disability that impact on learning and the supporting legislation
Identify types of support processes available to individual learners with disability
Discuss barriers to learning with guest learners with disability in small group forums
Design individual support plans based on the interactions above.
An optional assessment package can be undertaken post workshop to receive a Statement of Attainment for the unit TAEXDB411 Plan and implement individual support plans for learners with disability.
This workshop is designed for:
Teachers
Trainers
Assessors
Other persons who coordinate learning support for learners.
There are no prerequisites for this course, however a teaching background is desirable (in secondary or adult education) or a support role related to supporting individuals with disability.
Feedback from Learning Support Skill Set:
"Great listening to people with real life experience talk to us about what support looks like for them."
"That a well-planned support plan will ensure that you are giving your student the best possible outcome."
"NOTHING TO IMPROVE – outstanding."
"I found it very helpful to speak to people who had learning difficulties; their first-hand experience was key to understanding."
