Event description

Mainstreaming climate change in legal education: a snapshot of practice at UTS Law

Dear Colleagues, A national community of practice is emerging around the idea of mainstreaming climate change in the Australian legal curriculum.  Building on last year’s teaching and learning seminar by Professor Nicole Graham, this seminar will be an opportunity to discuss how and why climate change mainstreaming is taking place at UTS Law.  It will begin with a recorded presentation by Justice Brian Preston, ‘Climate Change and Legal Education: the Why, the How, and the Priestley’.  The following UTS academics will then share their experiences:

Marcelle Burns – First Nations, Native Title and climate change

Beth Goldblatt – Foundations of Law and Gender and Law

Costa Avgoustinos – Constitutional Law

Frances Flanagan – Ethics Law and Justice and Jurisprudence

Genevieve Wilkinson – Technology, Law Policy and Ethics
