Event description

Gathering is not only a core dimension of co-design; it is a valued part of this community of practice.
So let’s gather together to discuss a book about gathering and explore how it relates to our practice.

What is the offering?

CoDesignCo members are invited to discuss Priya Parker’s The Art of Gathering in February. In this book, Parker sets forth a human-centred approach to gathering that encourages everyone to create more meaningful and memorable experiences for work and play. Free from design jargon and with a much broader remit, it’s interesting to think how we might apply these ideas in a co-design approach.

As a CoDesignCo event, the purpose of this gathering is not only to discuss ideas from the book and consider how to apply them in our work. It is also a chance to strengthen our ties with fellow designers and facilitators, beyond the book and our immediate work context. We’ll allow ample time for conversation in small groups as well as whole group discussion.

We’re offering two different times to join the learning club, to accommodate different time zones and keep the group size small enough to allow meaningful dialogue.

We won’t be recording the sessions but will invite participants to collectively document relevant points.

What is required from participants?

We expect everyone attending to read at least one chapter from the book (in addition to the brief introduction), or engage with a related text (e.g. a podcast interview about the book or ‘The New Rules of Gathering’ guide), in advance of the session.

How much does it cost?

This club is free for Kea members and $16.50 AUD for Galah members to participate in.

Members are welcome to invite a friend or colleague to join a session with them. Non-members are asked to contribute $33 AUD to our running costs.

(If you would like to join CoDesignCo, please sign up here.)

We would love for you to join and take part in this 2-hour interactive online gathering.
