2023 Parent seminar Learning Consent with Dr Joy Townsend
Parents of students in years 10-12 are invited to join Learning Consent Founder and CEO, Dr Joy Townsend on Tuesday 6 June at 7:00pm to learn more about the issue of consent.
This 60-minute seminar will offer parents and carers an engaging and informative presentation of the latest research on Australian young people’s experiences of sexual consent and sexual learning. Joy will inform parents and carers of the evidence-base for comprehensive consent education that is aligned with international best practice. Using real-life case studies of young peoples lived experiences, the seminar will offer parents insight into the complexities surrounding young people’s negotiation of sexual consent, and equip them with resources for informed and meaningful engagement on the subject at home.
Dr Joy Townsend is a Sociologist whose area of expertise is in the field of gender and sexualities. Her work centres on the lived experiences of young Australians.
