Event description

The Rotary Club of Sydney’s Climate Action Group will host an online discussion on the role of bees.

ACT for Bees Founder, Julie Armstrong, and Rotarians for Bees NSW Facilitator, Lucy Hobgood-Brown, will explore why pollinators like bees are essential for healthy ecosystems, and how you can play a vital role in creating pollinator pathways.

An update will be given on the state-wide emergency order aimed at preventing the spread of Varroa destructor, commonly called varroa mite, and described as the number one threat to Australia's bee industry.

Rotarian Diana Quinlin, Convenor of the Rotary West Wollongong Bee Hive Project Group will also discuss the project which involves the facilitation of pollination, some production of honey, and the placement of native bee hives in schools, and the Wollongong Council permaculture garden.
