Open to all ages!

This course weaves practical and cultural elements to enhance students’ learning about the Niuean culture. Guided by cultural and language practitioner Ioane Aleke Fa’avae, this course is open to all ages and experience, whether you can speak Vagahau Niue or not.

All are welcome to gain cultural insight into Niue through various activities, including language, weaving, cooking, and other cultural experiences.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this course, learners will be able to:

• Create and present a short speech in Vagahau Niue, using appropriate greetings, expressions, and sentence structures for everyday communication.

• Demonstrate understanding of a Niuean cultural tradition, including its significance, values, and role in the community.

• Participate in the preparation of a traditional Niuean dish, showing awareness of cultural practices and language used in the cooking process.

• Gain an understanding of community groups and how they contribute to cultural preservation and community wellbeing
