Come join us and get the lowdown on all things leather and learn the core techniques to easily make your own custom leather goods in your own environment. Plus how and where to source the supplies needed, along with heaps of tips & tricks! Hide tanning knowledge will also be shared.

All tools and materials for the project at hand will be provided on the day.

Starter toolkits to keep you going at home will also be available for purchase.

What You Can Gain:

Presented by a qualified leather craftsman with over 30 years experience, this hands-on Leathercraft Workshop will upskill you in a wide range of traditional and modern leathercraft techniques.

You will gain a good deal of knowledge about leather and how to work with the various types of leather, plus explore a variety of techniques as you hand-craft your own belt that will last the tests of time.

The skills you acquire on the day can enable you to continue creating a variety of leather projects in your own home.

What’s Covered:

~ A brief run down of the history and tanning of leather

~ The differences with veg-tanned and chrome-tanned leather

~ The core skills needed, followed by guided assistance with the techniques, such as:

Decorative Stamping, Embossing and Etching
Moulding leather
Hand-stitching
Lacing and Braiding
Edge bevelling and burnishing
Colouring & Sealing
Setting Press-studs, Rivets, etc.

All this as you handcraft your own pouch to take home.

Starter Kits will be available for purchase, which include the tools needed for most ongoing projects.

You just need to bring along your inquisitive self, and maybe a notepad if you want to jot down the finer details.

It’s also wise not to wear your best clothes…….although it’s not particularly messy, there is the potential for spills and splashes which may not come out of clothing.
