Subtitle: Learn how to showcase your research expertise to non-academic employers by translating your research experiences into professional capabilities.

Description:

Want to stand out in the non-academic job market? This practical workshop shows you how to translate your research expertise into professional capabilities. Through before-and-after examples, you'll learn how to replace academic language with industry-focused descriptions that resonate with employers.

We'll analyse real job descriptions, selection criteria, and resumes to understand what works (and what doesn't). You'll learn the crucial differences between academic CVs and industry resumes and develop a toolkit of industry-relevant skill descriptions. Most importantly, you'll practice translating your unique research experiences into capabilities that industry employers are actively seeking

By the end of this workshop, you will:

  • Understand the key skills sought by employers outside academia.
  • Be able to identify your personal transferable skills.
  • Know how to adapt skills descriptions to match specific job requirements.
  • Feel confident articulating your value in job applications.
