Event description

Exploring the gap between hope and reality for international students

This forum will focus on the life journey of international students and the gap between what they hope to experience living and studying in Melbourne and the reality for many.

Covid-19 has disrupted the lives of international students and widened that gap. As we move towards recovery, we want international students to feel welcomed, valued and included in the life of our communities.

We will be identifying guiding principles in promoting inclusion for international students and showcasing some great examples of inclusive activities and approaches.

Speakers will include:

  • Council of International Students Australia National President, Belle Lim
  • A panel of international students sharing experiences and insights
  • International Student Advisers
  • Associate Prof. Helen Forbes-Mewett, Monash University
  • Feifei Liao & Thu Nguyen, Story Is Connection,
  • Chinese Peer Connections
  • Rotary Club of Box Hill Burwood/St Tom's Hope Project, and
  • IndianCare

Who should attend:

  • International students
  • Local government
  • Community health services
  • Youth services
  • Migrant community organisations
  • Community service organisations
  • Interfaith groups

The forum is a partnership between Inner East Primary Care Partnership, Study Melbourne, CISA, higher education institutions, local councils, and community service providers in the Inner East region of Melbourne, with funding from the Department of Health and Human Service
