INFORMATION SESSIONS AVAILABLE IN-PERSON AND ONLINE

Practice Direction No 3 of 2024 – Sexual Violence Case Management

The new Practice Direction outlines best practice principles and introduces a new case management process to better manage sexual offence proceedings in the District Court of Queensland. The new protocol is intended to support early identification and resolution of issues, minimise delays to the Court process, provide greater certainty for all court users and improve the experience of witnesses.

To support legal practitioners in readying themselves for commencement, the Court is holding information sessions in Brisbane and Ipswich. The sessions will be opened by His Honour Chief Judge Devereaux SC and will provide an overview of practice changes.

Brisbane sessions held in the Banco Court, QEII Courts of Law, will also be live streamed to facilitate participation online.

The session in Ipswich Courthouse, 43 Ellenborough St, Ipswich, will be held in person only

A recording of the information session will be made available online and shared with all registered attendees.

Light refreshments will be provided from 4:30pm across all sessions.

Please direct any enquiries to SV.case.reform@justice.qld.gov.au.
