LEO SZN: Lakatoi & friends

Price $10 – $25 AUD + BF Get tickets

Event description

We acknowledge we are uninvited guests on the lands of Wurundjeri and Boonwurrung people of the Kulin nations from which we live, work and create. We acknowledge the sacred lands, seas and communities. We pay deep respect to all elders past and present and those emerging. Sovereignty has never been ceded, treaties have never been signed. We stand in solidarity with Blak people fighting for justice and self-determination across the country.

ABOUT
Ripley is back and he's throwing a bday party for all the Leo's. We are getting the good eggs together to bring you a mix of live sets + dj's across the night with delicious food available to be purchased at dinner time and it's for an important cause close to our hearts!

We are fundraising for a West Papuan activist and peace campaigner (unnamed for safety reasons) who is residing in Naarm and requires financial support. The funds will contribute to ongoing legal aid, around the processing of a protection visa. They hope to continue amplifying West Papuan voices and aspirations for liberation. They are a critical presence in our activist and arts communities, and we want to support them to continue to do their important work.

All money raised beyond the event costs are going towards the cause. Cant make it but want to support? You can contribute donations via the tix link.

Accessibility:

Flippy’s is partly wheelchair accessible for non-motorised wheelchair users. The entry to the main bar has a non-automatic door with a ramp leading up to the bar. The bar is 1140mm high with an open walk space to the side of the bar that bar staff can meet you at to take your order. Motorised wheelchair users have anecdotally struggled to get into Flippy’s - we suggest contacting Flippy's for more detailed information around this.

Unfortunately the bathrooms are not wheelchair accessible. The toilets are two small cubicles within a bathroom that has a door that can be shut for privacy if needed. The doorways are 750mm wide. The closest wheelchair accessible bathroom is at 283 Victoria St which is 550m away.

The courtyard is not accessible to wheelchair users from the main bar. The courtyard can technically be accessed via the laneway however the ground is quite rocky terrain.

Flippy’s is a low lit space with lamps and candles. It can get quiet noisey and music will be outside and inside, but we will have it switched off in the pool room.

Information for the deaf and hearing-impaired community

Some, but not all Flippy’s staff are proficient in Auslan. If Flippy’s staff do not have Auslan they can communicate via text or can take your order if you point to the menu. This is a fundraiser so we cant afford an Auslan interpreter, but if you would like to volunteer your time in a formal/informal capacity please reach out.

Covid-19

Covid is still very present. Please stay home if you have cold or flu symptoms. Masks are encouraged - if you are able to wear one and if you have access to RATS please do one before you arrive. We will have a large and small air purifier on site that will be used for the duration of the event.
