Organising in the Jewish diaspora during a time of genocide
Event description
We invite you to join us at 10 am (AEDT) on December 7 for a critical conversation – Organising in the Jewish Diaspora in a Time of Genocide: Lessons from Australia, the UK, and the US.
Hear from key organisers from the global Jewish movement fighting Israel's genocidal efforts in Palestine to share strategies, discuss challenges, and build the global solidarity needed for the fight ahead. We are thrilled to be able to host:
Emily Hilton (UK), a UK-based Jewish organiser who co-founded Na’amod: British Jews Against Israeli Occupation. She sits on the Advisory Committee for the Center for Jewish Non-Violence and has written extensively on antisemitism and Israel-Palestine.
Morriah Kaplan (US), the Interim Executive Director of IfNotNow, a movement of American Jews organising to end US support for Israel’s apartheid system. An organiser on Israel-Palestine since 2009 and IfNotNow's national spokesperson, she has appeared on BBC World and Al Jazeera.
Sarah Schwartz (AUS), a founding Executive Officer of the Jewish Council of Australia and human rights lawyer who has worked across protest rights, democratic freedoms, police accountability and prisoners rights. She has written widely on policing, racism, and Palestine.
The conversation will be moderated by JCA Advisory Committee member Dr Michael Edwards. Michael is a Lecturer in Anthropology at the University of Sydney and a founding Executive Member of the JCA.
