Systems Change: Lived Experience Considerations and Opportunities
Event description
About the workshop:
The Lived Experience Leadership and Advocacy Network (LELAN) and the Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Research Group (MHSPRG), UniSA are offering an introductory workshop on lived/living experience and systems change.
Disruptive innovation and reform of the mental health (and other social services) system are desperately needed. Collective efforts are seen as the only way to move forward on strengthening, embedding and creating space for lived experience leadership to flourish, and ensure that those most affected by the changes are included in their re-imagining, design and implementation.
The task isn't easy and it will be achieved most successfully together.
This is an introductory level workshop which will help participants to learn more about systems change, explore systems change in the context of lived/living experience and brainstorm ways for acting together.
The workshop will cover:
> systems change 101
> the conditions that hinder progress
> the role of lived experience in (or leading) systems change
> opportunities for action
Who the workshop is for:
Any person with lived/living experience of mental health issues (consumer and/or carer) or other social issues, allies and people with professional interest in this topic are invited to attend.
The session will be facilitated by members of the Activating Lived Experience Leadership (ALEL) Project team (Mark Loughhead, Heather Eaton and Ellie Hodges).
