Let's Cup! Kenya
Event description
Melbourne Coffee Merchants presents:
Let's Cup! Kenya
Join us for a special cupping event co-hosted by our good mates Patricia Coffee at their Coburg roasting space, spotlighting the incredible people and coffees of Kenya! This Let's Cup! event will feature a stunning line up of this season's Kenyan coffees, sourced by MCM and roasted by our talented roasting community around Australia. This fun and friendly forum is the perfect opportunity to taste and compare the signature a quality-focused roaster can add to a coffee, whilst showcasing the skill and expertise of our producing partners.
Kenya produces some of the most exquisite coffees in the world — prized for their sparkling acidity, juicy mouthfeel, incredible floral aromatics, complex ripe fruit flavours and intense sweetness. Since we first bought coffee from Kenya in 2017, our line-up has celebrated independent estate holders who process and market their own coffees, along with forward-thinking cooperatives who support local growers year-round. To achieve this, we work closely with Wycliffe Murwayi, a long-time friend to MCM who has recently established independent agency Agriwyse to facilitate direct sales.
Few people know Kenya's coffee industry as intimately as Wycliffe, and with his help, this year we featured an exceptional selection of coffees from a number of independent producers in Embu, Kiambu and Kirinyaga, as well as with Kiama cooperative in Nyeri. We can't wait to share them with fellow Kenya lovers here in Australia, we hope you'll join us!
Tickets are by donation (including service fee) and all proceeds will go to support the Santa Clara Scholarship Program.
BYO cupping spoon recommended.
