Let's Talk Anti-Discrimination and Inclusion | Volunteering Tasmania and Office of the Anti-Discrimination Commissioner
Event description
During Harmony Week we'd love you to join us for a conversation about anti-discrimination and inclusion in volunteering. This free workshop will be delivered in partnership with Office of the Anti-Discrimination Commissioner. Â
Harmony Week is a national celebration that recognises our diversity with the ethos that Everyone Belongs. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. This week also marks the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, and we all have a part to play in building a more inclusive society, free from racism and intolerance.Â
During this session you'll discover information about your rights and responsibilities under Tasmanian Anti-Discrimination Law, what you can do if you observe or experience discriminatory behaviours, the reporting mechanisms available, and the Commissioner's role, purpose, and function. Â
We'll also provide an overview of the work Volunteering Tasmania are doing to support volunteer-involving organisations to be more inclusive and accessible.Â
This workshop will include an interactive session which encourages your questions and active participation as we discuss challenges facing volunteers and volunteer-involving organisations, as well as ways we can successfully overcome these challenges. Â
