Let's Talk Child and Youth Safe Volunteering
Event description
For this free online session, we are joined by the Office of the Independent Regulator, Youth Network of Tasmania and Tasmanian Youth Voice Network.
This event is for people working with volunteers - whether you're a volunteer manager, coordinator, or representing a Volunteer Involving Organisation.
We will be discussing:
An overview of the Child and Youth Safe Framework, including practical guidance to strengthen your organisation’s child-safe policies and practices. OIR will share some of the insights and examples of best practice from their in-person workshops delivered early November.
Expert support and resources to refine your Statement of Commitment, Child and Youth Safe Policy, and Code of Conduct.
The role of youth participation in creating and maintaining child and youth safe organisations, and how involving young people leads to stronger, more practical approaches to safety and inclusion.
Insights from a Tasmanian Youth Voice Network (TYVN) member on what volunteering looks like from a young person’s perspective, and how young people experience and contribute to safe volunteering environments.
This session is delivered by Volunteering Tasmania's Volunteer Management Activity (VMA). Funded by the Australian Government Department of Social Services, the VMA aims to build the capacity of volunteer involving organisations to provide inclusive and accessible volunteering opportunities and break down barriers to volunteering for specified priority groups, including young people.
The Office of the Independent Regulator (OIR) works with Tasmanian organisations so they are safe for children and young people, through compliance with the Child and Youth Safe Organisations Framework.
The Youth Network of Tasmania (YNOT) is the peak body for youth affairs, representing the interests of young people aged 12–25 and the youth sector in Tasmania. YNOT's purpose is to amplify the views, rights and leadership of young people in Tasmania, working to strengthen youth participation in meaningful decision-making across government and community.
The Tasmanian Youth Voice Network (TYVN) is a statewide network of young people aged 12–25 who share their perspectives and experiences to influence policy, programs and decision-making in Tasmania. TYVN is an initiative of YNOT, Brand Tasmania and young Tasmanians.
Volunteering Tasmania Continuous Professional Development (CPD) points: 1.5 CPD points will be awarded for attending this online session.
