What: Let's Talk Kids in Hamilton
When : 10am - 12pm on Friday 30 August 2024
Where : Settlement Centre - 46 G Boundary Road

Aim

This workshop aims to help parents keep their children safe and build trust and support for their children's well-being.

It is a Safe Talks workshop designed for parents of children under 12 years old so that they can learn essential skills to discuss sexual and personal safety with their kids, understand risk factors for child sexual abuse, and support children who disclose harm. The parents can equip themselves to create a safer environment and nurture trust and support for their child's well-being.

Topics to be covered in this 2-hour workshop 

  • Keeping children safe from abuse 
  • The importance of talking about sexual/personal safety with children 
  • Strategies that work in preventing sexual abuse 
  • Making it easy for kids to tell
  • How to respond if a child tells you someone has hurt them
