Event description

What is the relationship between design, power, and social justice?

"Design justice is a framework for analysis of how design distributes benefits and burdens between various groups of people. Design justice focuses explicitly on the ways design reproduces and/or challenges the matrix of domination (white supremacy, heteropatriarchy, capitalism, ableism, settler colonialism, and other forms of structural inequality)." - Sasha Costanza-Chock

It has emerged from a growing community of designers in various fields who work closely with social movements and community-based organisations around the world.

Join us for this very special Systems Change Salon where we will talk about the very important topic of Design Justice and together work with a framework from the Design Justice Network that helps you reflect on your design process and who holds the power, so that your design process is just and does no harm.

We will use this framework to reflect on our own practices and discuss ways we can make our practices more ethical, accessible and just.

Proceeds from the event (above costs) will be donated to the Design Justice Network. (NB This is not a Design Justice Network event)
