Letter writing in support of the NSW equality bill.
Event description
NSW has the worst laws and protections for LGBTQIA+ people on this continent. This has to change and soon!
Alex Greenwich proposed the LGBTQIA+ equality bill to introduce a series of amendments across multiple pieces of legislation that would significantly improve the lives of anyone who's a member of the Queer community in NSW.
Some of the proposed changes include:
- Better protections against discrimination.
- Easier identification laws, allowing trans and gender diverse folk to update their ID without having to undergo costly out of pocket surgery.
- Stronger safeguards against forms of violence uniquely experience by sex workers, HIV positive people and LGBTQIA people.

The bill was introduced over a year ago on the 24th of August 2023 and has been now delayed again until the 31st of October, this is needlessly cruel and has to stop. We need this bill passed now.
As a trans woman who was born in NSW I and so many people like me need your help to get this bill through as quickly as possible. This is why i'm asking you to join me for a night of letter writing, light snacks and good vibes to take action. If you're unable to physically attend we will be runnning a zoom session where you can follow along at home :)
