Luke Heggie didn't exactly take the scenic route to stand-up comedy. Brisbane-born and Sydney-based, he spent his early years doing labour jobs before finally stepping on stage for the first time at 35. Three gigs in, he won the RAW Comedy Award at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2010. Three gigs. From there he relocated to Sydney, where the scene took to him pretty quickly — Time Out named him Sydney's Best Comedian in 2012, the same year his debut hour "Master of None" scored a Best Newcomer nomination at MICF. What makes Luke Heggie work is that there's genuinely nothing superfluous about him. Deadpan delivery, no-nonsense, dry observational comedy that makes you feel like you've been missing something obvious your whole life. He's packed out rooms across Sydney, toured nationally, and played London's Soho Theatre. His albums "Tiprat" and "You're Not Special / Anythink Is Possible" both earned ARIA Award nominations for Best Comedy Release — which is not a thing that happens to everyone. Add the Comic's Choice Award at MICF 2017, Director's Choice at Sydney Comedy Festival 2015, and Best in Fest at Sydney Comedy Festival 2021, and you start to get the picture. You've probably spotted him on ABC's The Weekly, The Project, or the MICF Gala, and he co-hosts the "Mid Flight Brawl" podcast with Nick Cody. His sold-out 30-date regional tour "GROGAN" wrapped in 2024, and national tour "YUCK" hits stages across Australia in 2025.

Steph Broadbridge is a Sydney comedian who somehow turned a jazz vocals degree from ANU into a career making strangers laugh. That's not a pivot — that's a magic trick. She brings a perspective to stand-up that feels genuinely unlike anyone else working Sydney stages right now. Pick up a ukulele, tell raw personal stories, be relentlessly funny — Steph does all three, sometimes in the same set. Her shows go places other comedians won't. "Hot Chick/Tired Mum" at the Factory Theatre in 2021 turned heads, and "Breaking: The Musical" proved she can build an entire theatrical world from scratch using nothing but comedic instinct and sheer nerve. Fans have described her style as pitch-black humour wrapped in a warm hug, which is about as accurate as it gets — she tackles trauma, neurodiversity, and the beautiful chaos of everyday life without flinching, then makes you laugh at all of it. The facts are hard to argue with: 2019 RAW Comedy National Grand Finalist, over 300 gigs in a single year, and headline spots at Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Sydney Fringe, Splendour in the Grass, and Sydney Comedy Festival 2025. A genuine fixture of the local scene, she's a familiar face at Kookaburra's Comedy and the stages that make Sydney's comedy circuit worth caring about.
