Level up - Exhibition opening - Snackiverse: Daisy’s World by Rhys Delinac
Event description
LEVEL UP is series of contemporary community gallery spaces spread across Wyndham. These spaces have been developed to provide emerging artists with an opportunity to showcase their work and support their transition into professional practice.
Join the artist to celebrate the opening of this exhibition and to present these new artworks to the world. This is a catered event and RSVPs are appreciated.
Snackiverse: Daisy’s World by Rhys Delinac
Come and explore the Snackiverse: a fantasy world where the lines blur between flora, fauna, fungi, spirit, and energy.
This is Rhys Delinac’s debut solo exhibition, and the first time he will be sharing his Snackiversal concept. The exhibit will feature a series of artworks exploring landscapes and creatures of the Snackiverse.
Get lost in the fine detail of the artworks, created with painstaking fineliner work, combined with vibrant watercolour, a central style in Rhys’s works. Let your imagination run wild as you start to piece this world together and possibly feel a sense of connection to the themes on display. These artworks centre around Daisy’s world; an exploration of what the Daisy Folk experience in their day-to-day lives.
Artist Bio
With this series, I have been exploring my use of fine liner illustrations and watercolour to create complex and detailed fantasy creatures and landscapes. I have been taken by the idea that we have created very ‘human’ categories for the things around us (animal, plant, fungi, etc.), and how it creates a subconscious distance and distinction between things.
The artworks are an outcome of exploring two of my major inspirations, Australian native life and states of mind.
I’m constantly in awe of this land’s interconnected natural world and studying life forms in their small details. I spend a lot of time in natural spaces and find it gives me the time to reflect on themes in my life, hence the exploration of state of mind. There is a link there for me, whether that is spirit, energy, or something else. I think these artworks aim to highlight and display this invisible link.
