Life Drawing Brisbane | Weekly Untutored Sketch Club at Here Space
Description
Join us for a weekly, untutored life drawing session in the heart of East Brisbane. Launching Tuesday, November 10th!
Held at Here Space—just three blocks from The Gabba and highly central to the Brisbane Southside art community—our weekly sketch club offers a relaxed, focused environment to practice your figure drawing skills with professional live life models.
While the sessions are entirely untutored (allowing you to work at your own pace and in your preferred medium), each class is hosted by experienced tutor, figurative oil painter, and former life model Charlize du Plessis, along with artist, educator, and Here Space co-founder Michelle Vine.
Together Charlize & Michelle create a welcoming atmosphere, curate excellent playlists, and structure a dynamic mix of short, gesture-based warmups and sustained long poses.
Whether you are a professional fine artist looking for regular sketchbook practice, a student building a portfolio, or a complete beginner exploring a creative hobby, this class is for you.

FAQs
- What Etiquette must I follow in this Life Drawing Class?
Respect the model
Our models make these sessions possible. Please help us keep the studio a safe, respectful space for everyone.
Treat the model with respect and courtesy at all times. Their comfort and safety come first.
Never touch the model. If you’d like a pose adjusted, ask the facilitator rather than the model directly.
Models will pose for 20 minutes at a time followed by a short break and are free to pause or end a pose at any time if they feel uncomfortable.
Give the model space. Keep easels, bags and materials out of the modelling area.
No photography or recording of any kind.
If you post your work online, or plan to exhibit work, ask the model’s permission first for any drawing that could identify them.
During the session
Phones must be switched off or silenced and put away for the whole session.
Any digital drawing devices such as iPad must have the cameras taped over. This will be checked by our staff and tape provided if not taped prior to the session.
The room has two entry doors - one near the co-working desks and another entry from the kitchen. During Life Drawing classes only the kitchen door will be used. The second door will remain locked at all times for privacy and strictly no entry will be allowed via this door after 6:25pm. If you arrive late for the session, please proceed up the stairs to level 1 and entry the art space via the rear kitchen door. Please do so respectfully and quietly.
If you arrive late and cannot gain access due to locked doors please text Michelle on 0401 589 740 and she will let you in.
Feel free to move around the room between poses and change seats if another seat is available.
No fixative or aerosol sprays inside. Please spray outside.
Odourless solvents only.
