Life Drawing Series with Zoe Awen
Event description
Wednesday evenings
October 9, 16, 23 and 30
5.30 – 7.30PM
This is not your typical life drawing class! Join us for a guided series of workshop events with music, nibbles, and playful activities to get the juices flowing. Zoe combines years of expertise in drawing and modelling, to make the drawing process fun and collaborative and encourage you to explore how to become more embodied in your own creativity.
Learn gaze training and warm-up drawing exercises with short poses from the model. Then be guided through a combination of creative and collaborative activities and gradually move on to drawing longer poses.
Zoe will demonstrate drawing techniques while also explaining the philosophies behind her approach and encourage participants to use intuition as well.
All welcome. These classes are recommended for beginner to intermediate.
Class outline
Week 1 - With a nude life model, we dive into figurative drawing from life, using playful techniques to nurture creativity. While learning how to see shape and line, and represent feeling rather than accuracy.
Week 2: We will dive a little deeper into drawing the human form. Again, using a model, we will break down the drawing process some more, using paint and different mediums to learn various ways of mark-making.
Week 3: Shifting our focus to objects and still life, we will use the same techniques as before to see the shape of everyday things and explore more about form and field.
Week 4 - "What to do with your life drawings?!" In the final week, we will explore ways to use studies/ sketches from life art sessions or journal drawings and think about turning them into something new or a bigger work of art. While also dedicating time to practice the techniques from the previous weeks.
