Life Is Sweet Vitriol - Shane Woolridge - Tiny Room Concert
Event description
Life is Sweet Vitriol
Welcome to a musical journey through the life and times of Arrowtown based Singer/Songwriter and Sculptor, Shane Woolridge.
Inspired by the burning desire to tell his life-story with original music in his home town, it will feature original well-crafted acoustic songs, thought provoking lyrics and delicate harmonies.
Shane was born in Cheltenham, England, in a working class environment, living in State housing.
He got into music as a nineteen year old, forming the band ‘The Crack’, which went on to win the UK/BBC televised ‘Battle of the Bands’ ( see it on YouTube) and were signed by RCA records and had a song in the UK Top 100. He has fronted and written songs for four original bands.
He moved to Queenstown in 1992 and finally found his-true home, settling in Arrowtown. In 2003 he became a full time sculptor.
Follow Shane’s stories as they offer up an insight into his world that starts with him as a troubled teenager, a broken home then experiencing betrayal, music, discovery, love, loss and through to his eventual redemption.Â
The music will be performed by Shane Woolridge and Langley Gerrard, who first met in 2003 whilst Shane was recording a solo album. They went on to form an acoustic duo called ‘Sweet Vitriol’ and several of those original tracks will be featured in this show.
Langley has been living in the North Island and overseas for 15 years and is travelling down especially for this performance, which makes the reforming of Sweet Vitriol all the more sweeter.’
