LR has a mission to anchor childhood development and Earth Sciences in the heart of education and serve as a key ally in connecting children with nature. Dive into these sessions and learn about the wonders of the ocean, Developed to promote critical thinking, cultivate curiosity and spark the imagination. Inspired by a deep love of nature, grounded in the earth sciences and aligned with the Victorian Science Curriculum.

---------------------------

This journey is designed to take young learners on an exciting underwater adventure, exploring the curious ways in which marine animals live and  the incredible diversity of species that inhabit the sea through hands-on interactive learning.

Session Topics:

OCEAN ODDITIES:
Animals on the land are diverse and plentiful, but only account for a small portion of the entire animal kingdom. Life on this planet actually began in the ocean and so the vastness of life forms can only truly be appreciated and understood when looking under the sea’s surface.

Learn about the biological classification of creatures within the ocean, going through the major taxonomic groups of the animal kingdom and identifying the core differences that distinguish them apart. Incursion includes hands-on interactions with non-living specimens.

CRAFTY CREATURES:
Animals face more environmental factors in the underwater world than on land, where water is the element that connects the entire ocean and is the encompassing medium that creatures live in. It is an environment where freedom of movement is available in all directions and where food resources come in many forms.

Learn about the feeding ecology of ocean environments, where the survival pressures of underwater living will be explored and the diverse types of feeding methods explained. Incursion includes an interactive activity with non-living specimens.

The two sessions have been designed to compliment each other for your child to attend both, or as a stand alone session.
