This course will equip candidates with the skills and knowledge required to supervise swimming pool users. The course focus includes pool surveillance, scanning techniques, rescue skills, oxygen resuscitation and emergency care.

You must have the First Aid/CPR HLTAID003 or HLTAID011 certificate before you can register for this course.  

SISSS00133 Pool Lifeguard

SISCAQU019 Supervise patron safety in aquatic locations

SISCAQU020 Perform water rescues

SISCAQU021 Perform complex water rescues

SISCAQU022 Provide oxygen resuscitation and therapy in an aquatic environment

HLTAID011 Provide first aid (Credit Transfer)

In addition, Candidates will also receive

HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

This course will equip candidates with the skills and knowledge required to supervise and respond to swimming pool users in an emergency situation.

The course focus includes pool supervision, scanning techniques, rescue skills, oxygen resuscitation and emergency care and is the minimum requirement to work as a professional Pool Lifeguard in Victoria.

This course is recommended for any person wishing to achieve employment within the aquatic industry and is recognised as a required qualification for staff in this position. It is also recommended for those involved in aquatic exercise, swim coaching, aquatic excursions or who have responsibility for the supervision and safety of people in and around swimming pools.

Please Note: Completion of these courses and being Certified does not guarantee you will be employed at a Corangamite Swimming Pool this summer.

This is two day course: 

DAY 1: Tuesday 23 September: Pool Lifeguard Course – Cobden Health Indoor Pool 9.30am-4.30pm

Day 2: Wednesday 24 September: Pool Lifeguard Course – Cobden Health Indoor Pool  9.30am – 4.30pm

Please note there are only 20 participant registrations with opportunity for young people across the shire to be involved. Any school referrals for registration will be limited to 5 only with more being removed to accommodate all regions.
