Light Rail Local Reads - on board!
Description
This free event is the culmination of CMET's Light Rail Local Reads initiative run with support from Libraries ACT.
From August to October everyone's invited to enjoy books by local authors Jack Heath, Robert Macklin, Sulari Gentill, Chris Hammer, Karen Viggers and Andra Putnis, turning our light rail into a commuter book club.
People can borrow the books (physical, digital, audio) with a free Libraries ACT membership and follow on social media for special content and the chance to share your thoughts on these great books.
On Saturday 24 October some of our local authors will join us for an exclusive and free onboard reading event! Listen to authors bringing their books to life while you travel through our beautiful city on our stylish and comfortable light rail vehicles.
Don't forget to drop into Gungahlin Library before you board!

- Does it cost me anything to attend?
No. Participation in Light Rail Local Reads, and attendance on Saturday 24 October is free.
- What if I haven't read the books?
You do not need to have read the Light Rail Local Reads books to attend the event on Saturday 24 October.
- What if I'm not a member of Libraries ACT?
Attendees do not need to be a Libraries ACT member but there's never been a better time to join!

- Is this an all ages event?
Light Rail Local Reads is open to all ages, however the featured books are written for adult readers and may include mature themes. We encourage parents and carers to use their discretion based on their child’s reading level and sensitivities.
- What will happen at the event?
Participants will take a round trip on the light rail alignment from Gungahlin Place stop to Alinga St stop and back, and will enjoy a series of author readings and Q&A while we travel.
