Drawing inspiration from photographs taken on travels both locally and internationally. Nicole Black is interested in the process of undoing all of the realistic elements and exaggerating the colour, brushstrokes and expression into a traditional landscape. Recent travels have seen Black explore Europe, Tasmania, Queensland, and short day trips around South Australia. Each piece is heavily layered; often beginning with abstracted grounds, building up interest and texture before incorporating details from photographs
