Mahoe Reserve Bioblitz: A Nature Search for the Great Southern Bioblitz
Event description
🔍🦋 Join Canterbury Museum in the search for various species at the Mahoe Native Reserve in Lincoln as part of the Great Southern Bioblitz. You'll be on the hunt for anything that flies, grows, crawls and hides! The Great Southern BioBlitz is an opportunity for all countries in the Southern Hemisphere to record organisms during Spring and showcase their beautiful biodiversity to the world.
What to Expect:
Get a close-up look at the creatures you find with our digital microscope connected to a monitor.
🦋 Our expert volunteers will be equipped with butterfly nets, beating sheets, and soil sieves to help collect and identify species from every corner of the reserve.
We are hoping to also offer you the chance to:
💧 Participate in hands-on water quality testing and learn about the life in our waterways.
🌱 Discover what lies beneath our feet with soil exploration activities that reveal the hidden system supporting us.
