Colour Lino Block Printing with Steven Giese
Event description
In this one-day workshop, participants will learn the process of producing multi-plate, coloured linocut prints. Suitable for entry level and intermediate artists, participants will produce at least one edition of prints involving both black and white and printed colour.
The workshop will cover designing, cutting, and printing from multiple plates, safety issues, registration of paper, plate to plate image transfer, and discussion of colour. The techniques demonstrated will use the minimum of equipment, and participants will return home with the knowledge to set up their own printmaking environment.
Relief printmaking has a long history and remains a dynamic means of making pictures. The workshop will involve discussion of some remarkable print artists from Australia and around the world, with particular emphasis on those who have used colour.
Please Bring: A sketchbook, pencil, eraser and a few supporting images of birds or faces. Attendees will be encouraged to simplify their designs and minimise complexity to begin with. Participants are welcome to make a few drawings for a 15 x 15 cm format in advance of the workshop.
