Travel instructions

Queensland Parliament House is located at the corner of Alice and George Streets, Brisbane CBD. Entry to the parliamentary precinct is via the Parliamentary Annexe at 69 Alice Street. Parliament House is within walking distance of Gardens Point ferry terminal and bus stops on Alice Street and George Street. For journey planning, visit the Translink website or call 13 12 30. Metered street parking and several public parking stations are located within walking distance of the venue. Visitors may be dropped off in the Parliamentary Annexe forecourt. Drivers will need to move their vehicle after drop-off or pick-up. A limited number of accessible parking spaces are available onsite. Entry instructions

Enter via the Parliamentary Annex. All visitors must pass through Parliamentary security screening. Please bring photo identification, such as: Driver licence, Passport, Student card, Proof of Age card, Australian Government-issued photo identification. You will be given a nametag to wear and there are staff at reception who can assist you. Security screening can sometimes take a little time, so we encourage guests to arrive early and ensure they have any supports they may need while waiting.

After entry instructions

Once you are through security and have signed in, staff will direct you to speakers green which is outside the large glass sliding doors. There are stairs up to the green, and a ramp to the right.

Toilet location

The accessible toilet is located in the main foyer back through the glass doors. The accessible bathroom has an automatic door, handrails, and kids change table. Please note, there is no adult change table.

Accessible parking

Metered street parking and several public parking stations are located within walking distance of the venue. Visitors may be dropped off in the Parliamentary Annexe forecourt. Communication Access

Auslan interpreters will be provided for the formal presentations. Live captions will be available via smartphone or personal device (link provided closer to the event). All presenters will use microphones during the formal program. Speakers will be encouraged to verbally describe visual content where relevant.

Sensory Information

The event will be held outdoors on the Parliamentary Annexe Speaker's Green. Approximately 200 people are expected to attend. The formal program will include amplified sound and microphone use. There will be general crowd noise, conversation and applause. Guests are welcome to leave and return to the event space as needed. A quiet space will be available for attendees who need time away from the event, noise or crowds. Details will be provided on arrival.

Weather and temperature

This is an outdoor event. December evenings in Brisbane may be warm and humid. We recommend dressing comfortably for the weather. A wet weather plan is in place and registered attendees will be notified if alternative arrangements are required.
