Listening Out Loud
Event description
WHY
In a world of infinite distraction and busyness we can feel cut off from each other, our deepest selves unseen and unheard. Despite hyper-connectivity, we can feel alone as we face existential questions about our world. Finding our way towards answers must begin in communion with others who hold these same questions.
WHAT
This gentle gathering offers a space where you can drop in to your heart, be vulnerable, be held in moments of deep introspection and recognise each other's humanness.Â
The Centre for a Compassionate Society is inviting you to join us for an evening of reconnection.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
- A small, warm, and inviting gathering.
- An opening meditation
- An opportunity to reflect out loud on an inspiring prompt, held by a structured small group process that promotes deep listening to self and others.Â
- A concluding ritual of candle-lighting to mark what has emerged
ALL ARE WELCOME
No matter what age, ethnicity, income-level, orientation, or gender. We hope to create a space where we can all meet in our diversity and find connection through our shared humanity.
WHEN
We are offering this space once per month on a Tuesday evening
7-8.30pm
YOUR FACILITATORS
Dr. Petrina Barson
Petrina is the director of the Centre for a Compassionate Society. She is a teacher of Compassion Cultivation Training, a mother, a doctor, a poet and an activist on issues of climate change and refugee rights. The thread that runs through all these domains is her passion for compassion, and her deep conviction that we have more in common than divides us.
Isobel Potter
Isobel is an early childhood educator who brings to her work with children and adults a deep sensitivity to the nuances, delights, challenges and wounds of being a human being. She is a skilled and wise facilitator who ensures that people feel valued and safe.Â
Important Note:
Our venue is up a flight of stairs. Our deep apologies for anyone who cannot access the room due to this.
We look forward to welcoming you into the space.
With warmth and gratitude,
Isobel and Petrina.
