The Listening Room
Description
Something shifts when you're heard all the way through. Often you hear yourself, maybe for the first time in a while. And when you listen to someone without needing to fix them, you find out how much steadiness you have to offer.
Most of us can't remember the last time someone listened to us all the way to the end. Not interrupting. Not correcting. Not handing us a solution before we'd finished the sentence.
It isn't that people don't care. It's that listening is hard. When someone we love is hurting, we rush to help. When someone disagrees, we're already composing a reply. Somewhere in there, the person speaking goes unheard.
The Listening Room is a monthly gathering built around being heard. No advice. No fixing. No one trying to talk you out of what you feel, or into what they think.
Bring whatever you're carrying: a hard week, a question you can't put down, something you haven't said out loud yet. Or come and simply listen. Both are welcome here.
What you'll leave with
The rare experience of being heard to the end of your sentence. A felt sense of what it's like to listen without reaching for a reply. And a little more room in yourself for the next conversation that matters.
The Listening Room is the newest of our Community Events. Community Dialogues bring people together around hard questions we share as a society. The Listening Room is quieter. It's about the person, not the issue: what it's like to be heard, and to hear someone else.
Peace is the experience of knowing yourself. Sometimes it starts with being heard.
Who should come
The Listening Room is for anyone who has felt unheard: at home, at work, in their family, or in a world that seems to get louder every year. It's for people carrying something they haven't had a chance to say out loud, and for people who'd simply like to become better listeners for the ones they love.
You do not need a story ready, the right words, or anything figured out to attend. You only need a willingness to listen, to be heard, and to stay present with whatever shows up, in someone else and in yourself.
Our approach (safety & respect)
This is not therapy, a debate, or a place to be advised. It's a room for speaking without interruption, listening all the way through, and being received as you are. Leeza facilitates so the room stays steady and every voice gets the same care. Our approach places listening before responding, presence over problem-solving, and people over points. Together we'll slow down, speak from a clear and steady center, and find out what it's like to be heard without anyone needing to fix a thing.
Nothing you share will be corrected, analyzed, or solved. You can always pass. What's said in the room stays in the room.
