Lithgow Safer Cities Walkshops

Help Shape a More Welcoming Lithgow: Community Walkshops

We're inviting community members, particularly women, girls and gender diverse people, to share their experiences of moving through Lithgow's town centre and help identify opportunities to improve comfort, accessibility and perceptions of safety.

Walkshops are informal, guided walking conversations where participants observe the environment, discuss their experiences and share ideas for future improvements. No planning, design or technical experience is needed. We're simply interested in hearing about your lived experience of using the area.

The walkshop will take approximately 1.5hours. There will be plenty of time to stop along the route, discuss key locations, share ideas and complete a short group survey at the end. You don’t need to do the whole walk if it’s too far, there will be alternative ways to participate, such as completing the survey online or only joining part of the walk. Food and refreshments will be provided following the walk.

All community members are welcome – we want to hear from everyone who we can find ways to make the town centre area feel safer for everyone.

Together we'll discuss topics such as:

·        Accessibility and ease of movement

·        Lighting and visibility

·        Wayfinding and navigation

·        Comfort and amenity

·        Public spaces and activity

·        Perceptions of safety and welcome

·        Opportunities for future improvements

Night Walkshop

Join us to explore Lithgow's town centre after dark to help us understand how lighting, visibility, activity and place design influence people's experiences of safety when moving through the area.

Day Walkshop

📅 Saturday 19 September 2026

🕙 1:00pm to 3:00pm

Join us to explore Lithgow's town centre during daylight hours and identify opportunities to improve accessibility, comfort, wayfinding and the overall experience of travelling between the station and Main Street.
