Little Farmers Learn Through Play-Â Homeschool Drop Off
Learn Through Play and Little Farmers Playgroup are excited to announce our homeschooling drop off at McCarthy Farms Yandina commencing in Term 1 2025!
Each Tuesday the session will run from 9am -12pm and includes an equal share of animal care, literature inspired learning and free play, with an optional BYO picnic lunch to finish.
For those that are familiar with McCarthy Farms you would know what an incredible backdrop this is for our home schoolers.
Animal Care led by Ely (Bachelor of Equine Science)- Hands on learning about the basic needs and body parts of goats, chickens, ducks and ponies. Children will be involved in feeding, grooming, egg collection, milking goats, maintaining enclosures, and gain an insight into age-appropriate animal husbandry and the types of products these animals help us to produce.
Literature inspired learning led by Holly (Bachelor of Early Childhood Education)- each week our learning will focus on a different animal on the farm with carefully selected literature to inspire our learners such as story books, rhymes and songs. Children will be invited to respond to the literature through writing, dramatic retells, puppet shows and art/craft. For our emerging readers we will focus on the phonics from the text with lots of hands-on activities to consolidate their learning. Please complete the form provided in your confirmation email to share your child’s needs, goals and interests to help guide our planning.
Free Play- with the natural environment as our third teacher children will be free to explore the rope swing, sandpit, mud kitchen, open grass paddock and animals. Â Different play-based experiences will be set up and facilitated each week as well as a calm and quiet space to unwind.
BYO Picnic Lunch- Parents are invited to collect their children at 12pm or join them for a picnic lunch from 12- 12:30pm. Set up a rug under a shady tree and enjoy the space with your child. Supervision will conclude around 12pm as Holly and Ely begin pack up duties while being available to answer any questions.
