Livable Cville Presents Life After Cars with special guest Jamelle Bouie

Join us on Monday, March 30th from 6:30-7:30pm for a conversation with Sarah Goodyear and Doug Gordon to talk about life after cars in Charlottesville.

Sarah and Doug are well known for their podcast The War on Cars, which investigates all things transportation and explores how to build transportation systems that work for everyone. They recently released an excellent book called Life After Cars, which lays out the many ways in which the supremacy of automobiles harms people, the environment, and society, while articulating a positive vision of transportation that serves people and planet . We will be joined by special guest, e-bike dad, and New York Times columnist Jamelle Bouie to focus the conversation on the Charlottesville area and figure out what we can all be doing to bring about the vision of life after cars in our area.

Sarah Goodyear is a journalist and author who has covered cities and transportation for publications such as Grist, CityLab, and Streetsblog. Doug Gordon is a TV producer and writer who is also a neighborhood safe streets advocate, better known online as Brooklyn Spoke. They live with their families in Brooklyn, and they came together to create The War on Cars podcast in 2018 out of a sense that no one was covering the subject of cars and what they do to culture, society, and the planet in the way they felt it deserved. 

Jamelle Bouie is a Charlottesville-based writer, thinker, and podcaster. He has won many awards for his work, but we know him as a local e-bike dad who loves taking pictures.
