    Event description

Live Sound Sessions Fundraiser at the Abbotsford Convent

Since Cello Yoga began at the Abbotsford Convent in July 2023, we have welcomed over 1000 yogis into our warm and ever-growing community at over 20 events. We are now expanding this offering to include Live Sound Sessions where attendees can sit, lay or move freely on a yoga mat to experience music in whatever way they please in a non-guided session. Think of it as a gig / concert / performance / non-guided cello yoga / sound bath - I'm excited to bring this concept to life with you all.

Note: This ticketing link is for the Live Sound Sessions event on Sunday June 16 at 6pm. You can see a full list of available dates and times here.

The session will last 60 minutes. I will launch some new compositions, new versions of my existing faves, share more about my process and fill the space with lush sound goodness. Acoustic and electric cello, piano, looping and effects.

About the artist: Australian cellist and composer, Conrad Hamill has been creating music for mindfulness and meditation since 2019 after branching out from his classical roots. He now performs his compositions regularly at festivals, in yoga and meditation spaces and at events around the country including delivering a 2020 TedX Sydney presentation on the connection of the mind, music and movement.

100% of ticket sales will be donated to support Children in Gaza and Trans Youth in Australia

While art is most important when things are tough - being able to listen and create is an incomprehensible privilege when children and young people are being violated, everywhere. And so, every dollar of every ticket for this concert is going towards efforts that support children in Gaza and Trans Youth in Australia stay alive. A full house of 80 tickets @ $25 each = $2000 donated. 50% of funds will go directly to individuals on the ground in Gaza and the other 50% will go to Australian Not-For-Profit Transcend.

About the individuals on the ground in Gaza: Given the brutality of Israel's attack on civilians currently seeking refuge in Rafah, many humanitarian efforts can't make it in. Some individuals on the ground with direct go-fund-me links including Doctors, activists and volunteers are using direct donations via go-fund-me-links including:

    • Pal Humanity - Two doctors and sisters on the ground in Gaza securing medications to distribute to children and families.
    • Gaza Kinder Relief - Facilitating evacuation for critically injured children from Gaza.
    • Gaza Sunbirds - A para-cycling team distributing aid in Gaza.
    • Ela Elna Elak "What we own, you own" - A group of volunteering students providing food, warm clothes and blankets to families in need.

Every day is changing, and at the time of donation I'll assess where makes most sense to donate the funds.

About Transcend: Transcend Australia is a registered, community-led organisation providing peer navigation and peer support services, community support, education, resources and youth leadership opportunities for trans, gender diverse and non-binary young people, their parents and carers.
