dadageek presents

Livecode @ dadaLab 2025

A night of audiovisual performances with live-coding, realtime visuals, and algorithmic art. Bringing together artists from New York, Boston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Central Texas, this event is modeled in the algorave format where artists display code and processes used to make their work and edit it live as performance. Expect to see highly customized systems on display: from hand-coded live generative art tools and open-source audiovisual frameworks to high-end computer graphics simulations and hand-crafted musical algorithms.

Featuring audio and visuals by:

Want to dive deeper? Join us for a workshop presented by Char Stiles on building your own fantasy IDE! The workshop is part of ongoing thesis research at the MIT Media Lab exploring new ways to make programming more expressive and engaging. Your experimental editors might help shape the future of creative coding tools! Learn more and sign up here: https://events.humanitix.com/b...

A*B

A*B is a multidisciplinary artist and creative coder blending visuals and storytelling. With a background in photography, graphics, and web design, their work has expanded into live-coded visuals and generative art. Experimenting with fluid motion, dynamic textures, and layered compositions, they developed a distinct style that transforms code into immersive visual experiences.

alsoknownasrox

Roxanne Harris “alsoknownasrox” is a new media artist-researcher and musician-programmer based in Los Angeles. Embracing programming as an artistic medium, she parameterizes on-the-fly, pushing the boundaries of improvisational dexterity within computational limitations. Her work invites audiences to engage the creative process as it unfolds, embracing vulnerability and exploring speculative futures through algorithmic transparency. Roxanne holds a B.A. in Computer Science and Music from Yale University and is pursuing an M.F.A. in Design Media Arts at UCLA. She has presented at the International Conference on Live Coding, Hybrid Live Coding Interfaces, Open Source Arts Contributors’ Conference (OSACC), South by Southwest (SXSW), and Dweller Festival. Her work has been featured in Office Magazine and Alternative Press.

c_robo_

c_robo_ is a livecoder currently based out of Los Angeles. He uses Tidalcycles, Supercollider, and Neovim to produce and perform music. He's focused on exploring how musically expressive a laptop interface can be in real time, with no specialized hardware.

Char Stiles

Char Stiles is a computational artist, educator, and programmer. She works creatively in the lower levels of graphical computational systems & makes jokes about how computers work. She is currently at the MIT Media Lab's Future Sketches group researching the future of creative coding. She is a part of the Livecode.nyc collective & she co-founded Hex House, an artist studio and event space in East Williamsburg. She has performed internationally, including festivals such as Electric Forest, Portola, SXSW and Mutek Nexus.

Deferlow

Deferlow (Nathan Crepeault) is one of the foremost purveyors of real-time electro-acoustic skullduggery in the magnificent city of Austin, TX. His wayward predilections for incessant, tasteless glitching betrays a decadent lack of respect for audio signals. From time to time, this undisciplined sonic vulgarity can be enjoyed responsibly from within a well controlled environment… but only when the atmospheric conditions are not too modulating of Nathan’s most delicate constitution.

diego.chavez.io

Diego Chavez’s neurodivergent perspective drives him to explore connections across artistic domains. His current obsession is creating audiovisual experiences that unfold live through sound and generative visuals made from code. His work offers an invitation to reconsider our relationship with art and technology, encouraging introspection and a deeper understanding of our emerging creative tools.

d0n.xyz

d0n.xyz (Don Hanson) is an audiovisual performer and new media artist based in Brooklyn, NYC. As head of the California-based electronic music label Gridwalk he released several solo albums and has performed at underground venues around the world. He codes websites as artworks and software as creative tools, and founded the virtual art space New Art City.

Dadabots

Not sure what DADABOTS is. We're a cross between a band, a hackathon team, and an ephemeral research lab. We're musicians seduced by math. We do the science, we engineer the software, we make the music. All in one project. Don't need nobody else. Except we do, because we're standing on the shoulders of giants, and because the whole point is to collaborate with more artists.

Emptyflash

Cameron Alexander is an artist, programmer, and scientist based in New York. He is interested in the implications the tools we use have on what we create and the aesthetics that emerge from the spaces in between. His work explores these spaces and draws parallels to the relationship between math and nature (especially in chaos, cybernetics, and fractals), esoteric states of consciousness, and the essence of reality. Cameron primarily operates with experimental media such as interactive installations, live coded audiovisual performances, and alternative-process photography.

Cameron is a member of the New York-based collective livecode.nyc, where he organizes shows, gives livecoding workshops, and performs live coded visuals and music at algoraves. Cameron is involved in community building, education, curation, and creating sustainable alternative power structures.

R Tyler

San Francisco live algorithmic dance music futurist. AV Club SF, SXSW 21-24, Shanghai ICLC, Gray Area SF, livecode.NYC, Github, xAI, next.js.

Computational live audiovisual performance designed for the human body, mind, and soul. Unconventional harmonies, rhythms, and sonic aesthetics evangelizing the present and near future.

Switch Angel

Switch Angel creates highly energetic performances using live code and custom instruments. She performs her unique ear-wormy blend of electronic pop, breaks, shoegaze influences, and vocal performances while coding on a laptop. She performs at clubs and events on the East Coast of the USA, mainly in Boston and NYC.
