Living Beyond Labels - A conversation on Invisible illness & Mental Health - Presented by SIMNI

Living with an invisible disability can be freakin’ tough. Caring for a child, partner or family member with an invisible disability can be tough too. And when you are doing both while also working, managing a household, attending appointments, advocating, monitoring, worrying and trying to hold everything together, the emotional weight can become overwhelming.

From the outside, you may look capable. You may look organised. You may look as though you are managing everything beautifully. But behind the scenes, you may be carrying far more than anyone realises.

Living Beyond Labels is a supportive Saturday morning event for women living with invisible disabilities, caring for someone they love, or carrying responsibilities that others cannot see.

Hosted by Soroptimist International Moreton North Inc, this event will bring together three women with personal lived experience of invisible disability, caring responsibilities, work, family life and mental wellbeing.

SIMNI President Kassandra Behrendt will share her personal experience of living with an invisible disability and the assumptions people often make about what disability should look like.

Bec, a certified mental health professional, will speak from both her professional knowledge and personal lived experience about mental health, emotional wellbeing and the realities of caring while managing the demands of everyday life.

This event is not therapy. It is an opportunity to hear real stories, ask honest questions and spend time with women who understand that not every struggle can be seen.

You do not need to have all the answers. You do not need to arrive feeling confident. You do not need to pretend that everything is fine.
