Living Memory: Stories and Portraits celebrating North Lismore exhibition opening
Event description
Living Memory is a community project exploring the stories, history and memories of North Lismore.
Many residential properties in North Lismore are part of the buyback stream of the NSW Reconstruction Authority Resilient Homes Program, the largest residential buyback program in Australian history. As the suburb transitions from a vibrant residential neighbourhood to a new future, many local stories, it’s history and the deep understanding of place will move with the residents.
The project team, led by local historian and SCU Associate Professor Adele Wessell, have been in many conversations with many locals — uncovering stories, recording interviews and collecting historical materials and memorabilia. We'll be showcasing the portraits and stories of this vibrant community and how the team are shaping this project with North Lismore residents in this exhibition in our Lismore shopfront.
