David Leser is an Australian journalist, public interviewer and author of seven books including his most recent, groundbreaking "Women, Men and the Whole Damn Thing" about the history of patriarchy and misogyny in the age of #MeToo. David has interviewed everyone from Meryl Streep and Ayaan Hirsi Ali to Gina Rinehart, Alan Jones and the Dalai Lama.
As the host of our “living room” conversations - intimate, rich and deep conversations with writers, leaders, musicians, elders, and creatives - David dives into topics including hope, grief, love, relationship, faith, the future, mental health, poetry, and creativity. In his inimitable way he goes deep into the the heart and mind of his guests, traversing territory only he can.
David's guest in this event is the Rev. Dr Stephanie Dowrick, a writer, a leader in social justice activism, and leader and pioneer in interfaith, post-denominational spirituality and inter-religious understanding. An ordained minister and trained psychotherapist, she has been writing and teaching from a spiritually inclusive, humanitarian perspective for more than 30 years and, since 2006, has been leading one of the world’s most diverse spiritual communities, with its home in Sydney but including 20 years of retreats at Mana Retreat Centre, New Zealand. Stephanie was the founder and first MD of the prestigious and highly influential publishing house, The Women’s Press, in London. Since coming to Australia she has written many ground-breaking books that have been internationally published and awarded. Better than that, they have changed lives. Among them have been the best-sellers, Intimacy and Solitude, Forgiveness and Other Acts of Love, The Universal Heart, Choosing Happiness: Life and Soul Essentials, as well as the highly praised Everyday Kindness, In the Company of Rilke, Seeking the Sacred and Heaven on Earth. She has also written fiction and for children.
