Insights into the realities of living with chronic health disease(s) and the importance of community led public health solutions

This online panel discussion will be chaired by Rebecca Harcourt, who is an Ambassador for Diabetes NSW & ACT and lives with Type 1 Diabetes and a number of complex chronic diseases. Rebecca will be joined by proud Gomeroi man Ray Kelly, whose groundbreaking programs will be featured in the upcoming SBS documentary series Australia’s Health Revolution with Dr Michael Mosley; and proud Murrawarrii man Dr Brett Biles, Director of Indigenous Health Education at UNSW Medicine.

Unpacking and demystifying both the causes and the day-to-day realities of living with Diabetes, the discussion will also explore the crucial importance of personal and community empowerment, advocacy, Indigenous led health programs and research. The panelists will share the lessons and challenges they have encountered whilst working towards positive outcomes which are transforming the lives of many living with Diabetes.
