Leah Flanagan & Liz Stringer: Live at Godinymayin

Revered artists, longtime friends, and fellow Midnight Oil backing vocalists Leah Flanagan and Liz Stringer join forces for a special double bill at the stunning Godinymayin Yijard Rivers Arts and Culture Centre (GYRACC) in Katherine on Saturday, November 1.

Since first touring together across the Top End from Darwin to Broome in 2008, Leah and Liz have carved out celebrated solo careers as fiercely independent artists and songwriters. With a long list of awards, nominations, and critically acclaimed releases between them, their musical journeys are as powerful as their enduring friendship.

Liz is touring nationally in support of her new album, The Second High. Described by The Guardian as “intelligent and assured,” the record draws on her deep influences of jazz, funk, and soul. It’s rich with reflections on self-actualisation, lessons learned, and her trademark sharp-eyed commentary on justice, equality, and the human condition. This latest release marks a new creative high for Stringer—one of Australia’s most vital and authentic voices.

Renowned for her evocative voice and genre-blurring songwriting, Leah Flanagan returns to the stage with Smoke—a cinematic new EP recorded live with an all-star band. The project explores themes of identity, memory, and transformation, featuring the striking first single Quasimodo’s Dream, a haunting reinterpretation of The Reels’ cult classic due for release July 25. With a new band and a new creative chapter, Flanagan delivers powerful performances that are as intimate as they are soul-stirring—marking her as one of the Northern Territory’s most treasured artists.
