Baby Boomer, Kevin Murray, relates stories from his early years growing up on the Northern Beaches, and is struck by the number of them that seem to end with the painfully revealing phrase "and then my mum took me to hospital". While not all of the stories relate to physical injury, they all mark significant milestones on the often tortuous path to adulthood and responsibility.

Kevin Murray has lived on the Northern Beaches for all of his 73 years. After he graduated University in 1975 he chose a career in teaching, eventually retiring from TAFE in 2004. In retirement he was encouraged by friends and family to collate various stories of his early life into a book.
