With the lead up into Christmas, SDG 2: Zero Hunger will be the focus of this session. 

Many Neighbourhood and Community Houses and Centres (NCHCs) work within the Zero Hunger space, with houses/ centres providing emergerncy food relief, offering food parcels and holding community lunches/ morning teas. Many of houses/ centres work with food charities such as Foodbank and Secondbite to make these programs viable.

We are pleased to announce that Dave McNamara, the CEO of Foodbank Victoria will be a panelist in this session, with other great speakers and representatives of Houses and Centres to be announced soon.

Mitchell Bowden 

Manager of Engagement and Impact at Child, Family Community Australia which is part of the Australian Institute of Family Studies network.

Mitchell and the team at CFCA have recently published a practice guide and its companion practice paper describing the prevalence, experience and impact of food insecurity in Australia, identifying the populations most at risk and exploring various responses. He will share some of the major findings from this research.

From September 2020, the Australian Neighbourhood and Community Houses Association and UNAA Victoria are presenting a series of monthly webinars to explore why and how Neighbourhood Houses and Centres can engage with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Each webinar will explore one SDG in depth and include speakers from Neighbourhood Houses and Centres already working to progress this Goal.
